There is a wide variety of venomous creatures on the planet. Some live [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] side by side with humans, whereas others are rarely seen, and quite often go unnoticed. The venom is [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] used as both a defence mechanism against predators and as a way of killing prey. Humans are very much top of the food chain, but don't be fooled to think that if you cross one of the [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] following creatures you will come out the winner.
The 5th most venomous creature on the planet is the 'Poison Dart Frog'. It is often characterised by a [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] brightly coloured body, and can be found in the jungles of Central and South America. The golden poison frog is the most deadly of the [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] species, which can kill between 10 & 20 humans with just one milligram of poison. The creature is interestingly not considered venomous as it has no real delivery method for its toxin. Instead the poison is secreted from its skin. If you were to make contact with this creature it is essential to wash your hands as quickly [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] as possible. If the toxin gets into your blood stream, and you are deep in the jungle the the chances of survival are minimal.
At number 4 is the 'Death Stalker Scorpion'. This desert based critter can often be found roaming the deserts of North Africa and the Middle East. The reason that it's on the list is because the death stalkers fangs can deliver venom containing a powerful mix of neurotoxins, which has the power to interfere with respiratory and cardiac functions. Treatment is complicated by the [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] need for large amounts of anti-venom that is not always readily available. If stung it is essential to seek professional help at the earliest opportunity. However this is not always possible when you are 500 miles north of Timbuktu.
Number 3 on the top 5 list is the 'Marbled Cone Snail'. This strange creature has enough venom to kill up to twenty humans, but luckily it is often found deep on the ocean floor. Its diet usually consists of small fish therefore it would never attack a human [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] unless provoked. The fact that they look beautiful however has caused many humans to pick them up, which may account for the thirty or so recorded deaths globally. [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] The powerful toxin can cause intense pain and swelling right through to respiratory collapse and death. So the next time you see a good looking snail on the ocean leave it be. Why? Because there is no known anti-venom.
It's back to the land for creature number 2. The 'Inland Taipan' is the most venomous of all snakes, which has enough venom in one bite to kill up to 100 adults. If that's not enough it also has the capacity to kill in less than 45 minutes making it near impossible to get the lifesaving treatment that is required from a bite. The good news is that there are actually no known [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] documented human fatalities. The creature is very timid and will not bite if left alone. If you are unlucky enough to get bit then consider seeking immediate hospital treatment, and look to constrict the flow of blood. If you are on a long expedition in the Australian outback consider carrying a supply of anti-venom, as your nearest hospital could be a one day [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] plane journey away.
So at number 1 is the old favourite the 'Box Jellyfish'. This transparent alien of the sea is one to avoid, but in certain conditions it can be near impossible to even see. [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] The danger comes from its long stretching tentacles which have harpoon like structures attached to them. When making contact with human skin they release dangerous levels of toxins that can cause severe allergic reactions and even death. The pain caused from this process has reportedly caused victims to cry out in pain long after losing consciousness. Finally the reason it's at number one is because its responsible for a staggering 5500 deaths since records began back in 1884. Quite simply don't mess with this creature or any others on the list if you want to stay safe.
